Climbing over dangerous terrain! Ok, it’s a USB card…
The original toy can be seen here:
(It’s a slightly different model, but same mfg. and line)
I liked this toy because it is tiny, yet is full-function R/C vehicle and has real treads. Most 1/64 scale tanks have fake, stationary treads with regular old wheels hidden inside. What I didn’t like, however, was the fact that it was a war machine. Tanks are super cool from a technological standpoint, but I didn’t feel quite right about having a model instrument of death and destruction rolling around on my desk… It was cheap, however, so I decided to get it anyway.
One day, armed with nothing more than an X-Acto knife and a hot-glue gun, I turned it into a model bomb-diffusal robot. As if this wasn’t hippy-ish enough, I added recycling to the mix. The arm and gripper are made from the side skirts, turret, and the cannon–in fact, glue is the only thing present on the “robot” that didn’t come from the original tank! And no, unfortunately the arm does not actually move. Someday… 😉
